
there’s never … rly anything revolutionary about a white person making a character of color that has ‘complicated’ or ‘negative’ feelings about their culture. white people just cant depict the resentment and love and distress and comfort people of color have towards their culture. no matter how ‘researched’, no matter how ‘open-minded’. they will never do it in a way that fathoms and penetrates the way creators of color do.
self-racism and internalised prejudices or even just little frustrations should never be handled by white people. it’s ours entirely. and yet the practice is so fucking rampant. our intricacies have been taken, fashioned into some empty and lukewarm rendition — more often than not to serve as a foil to the more ‘progressive’ white culture — and white people are praised for exploring these so-called …..
